Back Story Creation
Work with an Authenticity Advocate to develop an authentic backstory for a character/characters.
In order to depict a fully rounded character, you need to know as much about them as possible. This is where an Authenticity Advocate can bring their lived experience to you them understand nuances of a character.
An Authenticity Advocate will go into as much detail as possible with the back story. It’s never expected this will all be included in the book, but will help everyone involved in the book creation to truly understand the character.
The Authenticity Advocate can build on any details of the character’s background and lived experience. Potentially including details of:
Ancestry and cultural and religious heritage
Brief family history and experience - Where they have lived, reasons for moving (if relevant)
Family Structure and history
Gender identity
Sexuality
Any conditions or visible differences
Interests and passions
The will share details of how these things have influenced the person they are, if relevant, and add anything else that they think might be important or that helps build a fully rounded character. They may also describe things like types of clothing, hairstyles, equipment etc, and provide image references.
