Detailed feedback

Written summary report plus detailed/marked up comments on draft/edited manuscript.

The Authenticity Advocate will read and make notes directly on the manuscript.

Things they might comment on are:

  • Physical description of characters

  • Authenticity of character behaviour & dialogue in context

  • Stereotypes/tropes that are perpetuated or effectively challenged.

  • Use of language.

  • Comments on the authenticity of the story, including how characters interact with others.

  • Anything that perpetuates harmful or problematic behaviours or stereotypes, and whether these are challenged appropriately (or at all).

  • Additional nuance that could be included to make the character(s)/story more authentic.

  • Accessibility

The Authenticity Advocate will raise all points that they come across and colour code their comments to indicate how problematic something is so that you can make informed decisions about how to proceed.

Alongside the marked-up manuscript, you will be provided with a summary report that will expand on overarching themes or issues.
